A couple was arrested in South Carolina after police found out that the woman was not pregnant, but instead was carrying over 1,500 grams of cocaine in a fake rubber belly, according to authorities.
Anthony Miller, 60, and Cemeka Mitchem, 41, were pulled over by law enforcement officials during a traffic stop on an interstate highway last month, as per a statement from authorities.
Suspicion was raised when Miller and Mitchem gave the police conflicting information regarding Mitchem’s due date. As the authorities began to suspect that something was amiss, Mitchem tried to flee from the scene but was eventually caught. During her attempted escape, the fake rubber belly fell off and drugs were found inside.
Authorities said that over 1,500 grams of cocaine were confiscated from the couple during the traffic stop. Miller and Mitchem now face charges of drug trafficking and have been denied bail. They remain in custody, and it is not known if they have attorneys at this time.
