Daniella Jane Duchatel, a 26-year-old resident of Brisbane, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at her parent’s residence on Sunday evening, May 21st.
In a desperate attempt to save her daughter, Kay Duchatel, Daniella’s mother, performed CPR after she collapsed, but sadly, her efforts were in vain. Just a month prior to this unforeseen tragedy, Daniella had broken her leg and sustained torn ligaments while walking home from a gathering with friends. She underwent emergency surgery and had a plate inserted in her leg, spending her recovery period at her parents’ house until her untimely passing.
Medical professionals suspect that a blood clot formed after the surgery and traveled to Daniella’s lungs, resulting in a pulmonary embolism—a life-threatening condition caused by a blocked blood vessel in the lungs that requires swift medical intervention.
The family now awaits the results of an autopsy to ascertain the precise cause of Daniella’s death. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, May 23rd, Kay confirmed her daughter’s passing and expressed profound sadness.
