The video appears to show the violent beating of a student at New Smyrna Beach Middle School in Florida

After what looks to have been a vicious and violent altercation with another student, a girl was detained last week at a middle school in Florida.

Social media users have started to share videos of the claimed incident, which took place last week at New Smyrna Beach Middle School. At least one parent has already spoken out, demanding action be taken over the reported frequency of fights on campus.

According to the footage FOX 35 has seen, a student is seen dragging another student by her hair to the ground before punching, stomping on her head, and kicking her in the back.

The arrest and filing of charges against one teenager were verified by New Smyrna Beach Police to FOX 35. They were unable to provide further details on the case since it is still under investigation and involves minors.

One father from New Smyrna Beach, who wished to remain anonymous, remarked, “Any parent who would even be a half-decent parent would be repulsed by the sight of it.” One parent said that fights break out every day at New Smyrna Beach Middle School and that things are out of control.

Knowing how out of control things are, you know, is scary, the parent added. “Well, something has to be done, I think. I’m not sure of the solution or what must be done, but there must be action taken.”

A representative for Volusia County Schools stated in an email to FOX 35 on Tuesday that school administrators responded to the conflict in a safe manner and that they were collaborating with law police to investigate the event.

“Volusia County Schools’ first focus is still maintaining the safety and security of both children and employees. Inappropriate behavior of any sort, including physical altercations, is not tolerated, and culpable students are subject to full disciplinary measures under the Code of Student Conduct “the district’s statement, please.

In addition to encouraging parents to instill good morals and conduct in their children, VCS says that doing so will assist to assure everyone’s safety.
