Trump’s Lawyers Criticized for Stonewalling Prosecutors in Stormy Daniels Hush Money Case

Former President Donald Trump’s lawyers are facing criticism for stonewalling prosecutors in the Stormy Daniels hush money case as per a report by Raw Story on Monday, November 27.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office has sought the intervention of Judge Juan Merchan, urging him to compel Trump’s legal team to provide a list of expert witnesses they plan to call, accusing them of attempting to sabotage the trial.

Former President Donald Trump’s lawyers are facing criticism for stonewalling prosecutors in the Stormy Daniels hush money case as per a report by Raw Story on Monday, November 27.

The prosecution contends that Trump orchestrated a cover-up, involving Michael Cohen transferring $130,000 to silence Daniels, followed by falsifying Trump Organization records to portray the payment as legal fees.

According to a report by Jose Pagliery of the Daily Beast, the exchange of information between prosecutors and Trump’s defense team has not been progressing smoothly.

Prosecutors claim that Trump’s lawyers ignored repeated requests to identify their expert witnesses, creating a significant delay in the pre-trial proceedings.

Susan Hoffinger, head of the Manhattan DA’s investigations division, emphasized the need for Trump to comply with his reciprocal discovery obligations.

The Beast’s Pagliery reported that prosecutors assert Trump’s legal team ignored two months of emails, starting in August, and only responded over a month later, shifting blame onto the DA’s office for withholding requested information.

Prosecutors argue that such delays could impede the legal process, warning that the case’s complications could coincide with Trump’s ongoing bank fraud trial and his commitments in the upcoming Republican presidential primary.

With Trump facing a $250 million financial fraud lawsuit in Manhattan, a racketeering case in Georgia, an obstruction of justice federal trial in Florida, and a trial in Washington D.C. related to the January 6 insurrection, the Stormy Daniels hush money case adds to an already intricate legal landscape.

Prosecutors fear that intentional delays could further burden the legal proceedings, potentially muddying the months ahead, especially considering Trump’s involvement in the Iowa caucuses and subsequent elections in Nevada, Michigan, and South Carolina in the new year.

As the legal drama unfolds, the Stormy Daniels case remains a focal point, shedding light on the challenges prosecutors face in obtaining necessary information from Trump’s legal team.

The accusations of stonewalling and attempts to prolong the trial raise questions about the former president’s legal strategy and the potential impact on his already tumultuous legal battles.
