Former US President Donald Trump’s arrest and imprisonment in Georgia have caused a stir on social media due to the details he provided about himself.
Designated as Inmate No. P01135809 at Fulton County Jail, Trump’s booking sheet stated he stood at 190cm tall and weighed 97kg, which is notably 11kg lighter than his reported weight during his last White House physical in 2018. His physical attributes, including blue eyes and blonde or strawberry hair, were also noted.
These booking details have sparked a strong reaction on social platforms, with many finding amusement in the fact that Trump’s self-reported statistics matched those of certain top athletes. Trump’s associate, Alex Bruesewitz, humorously tweeted, “6’3 215. Absolute elite athlete. Trump 2024.”
Some netizens even shared images of accomplished athletes with the same height and weight, expressing skepticism about the accuracy of the numbers. Notably, Trump’s height and weight were submitted before his arrival at the jail, he told The Washington Post.
His arrest pertains to charges of racketeering and conspiracy, alleging his involvement in attempting to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. Bill Hallsworth, the director of jail and court services for the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association, explained that processing defendants varies across counties.
He pointed out that while he wasn’t familiar with Fulton’s procedures, some facilities obtain data from outdated driver’s licenses without directly assessing the individual.
Trump, along with 18 co-defendants, was named in the August 14 indictment. However, the reliability of booking records for his co-defendants has also come into question. For instance, Trump’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, was initially listed as 175cm and 81kg, but these figures were later updated to 180cm and 104kg on the same day.
Similarly, former state GOP chairman David Shafer’s booking details cited him as 165cm and 68kg, with black hair and blue eyes. However, photographs revealed discrepancies, as he appeared taller with grey hair and brown eyes.
