Former President Donald Trump took the opportunity to comment on President Joe Biden’s stumble during the Air Force Academy’s graduation ceremony. Speaking to a crowd of voters in Iowa, Trump patronizingly remarked, “I hope he wasn’t hurt.”
He went on to offer his unsolicited advice, urging caution even when walking down a ramp. Trump referenced his own infamous slow descent down a ramp during a commencement appearance at West Point in 2020, describing the day as “horrible, cold, and windy.”
Recounting his experience, Trump complained about the 25-foot-long ramp that he likened to an ice skating rink. He recounted his precautions, mentioning how he held onto a general while tiptoeing down the ramp due to its lack of stairs.
Trump concluded his dig by stating that Biden’s fall was not inspiring and highlighting the unfavorable circumstances in which it occurred.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, another potential GOP contender for the 2024 presidential race, also chimed in on Biden’s fall during his campaign stop in New Hampshire.
While expressing hopes for Biden’s swift recovery from any injuries, DeSantis couldn’t resist taking a jab at the president and his policies, which garnered applause from the audience.
Despite the incident, the White House confirmed that Biden was unharmed. The president himself maintained a positive attitude upon his return to the White House, jokingly remarking, “I got sandbagged.”
