Donald Trump Jr. took to Twitter to comment on Hunter Biden’s recent indictment, expressing skepticism about potential political motivations. He wrote:
“Now that Hunter Biden is facing indictment, how long until Biden’s DOJ conveniently unveils another Trump indictment to divert attention? While it’s good to see some action, many believe this could be the DOJ’s way of claiming fairness while ultimately giving him a lenient punishment!”
Hunter Biden was indicted on federal gun charges stemming from Special Counsel David Weiss’ investigation, as reported by Fox News.
The charges against Biden include making false statements during the purchase of a firearm, providing false information to a federal firearms licensed dealer, and unlawfully possessing a firearm while being an unlawful user of controlled substances.
According to the indictment, “on or about October 12, 2018, in the District of Delaware, the defendant, Robert Hunter Biden, knowingly submitted a false written statement intended to deceive a firearm dealer regarding a material fact related to the legality of the firearm sale. He falsely certified on Form 4473 that he was not an unlawful user of controlled substances when in reality, he knew this statement was untrue.”
The indictment further alleges that “between October 12, 2018, and October 23, 2018, in the District of Delaware, Robert Hunter Biden knowingly possessed a firearm, specifically a Colt Cobra 38SPL revolver with serial number RA 551363, while being an unlawful user of and addicted to controlled substances, in violation of federal law.”
These charges mark the first brought against the president’s son by Special Counsel Weiss since his appointment. In 2021, it was initially reported that an incident occurred in 2018 when a gun registered to Hunter Biden was discarded in a Delaware market’s trash can, leading to police involvement.
