Former Hunter Biden business partner Devon Archer testified before the House Oversight Committee, and a transcript of his testimony was released. During the hearing, Archer mentioned an unusual encounter with ex-President Donald Trump while playing golf.
Despite being a stranger to Trump, Archer found himself on the receiving end of a fashion critique from the former president. The discussion veered into the topic of the “Trump brand,” with Archer acknowledging that the Trump family indeed has a recognizable brand.
He recounted playing golf behind Trump and receiving comments about his athletic shorts when Trump approached him at the clubhouse. The exchange took place while the Democratic side attempted to draw comparisons between the “Biden brand” and the “Trump brand.”
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy seemed to use the news about Hunter Biden as a diversion from the attention on ex-President Trump’s arrest and arraignment.
Trump faced charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights, stemming from alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election before and on January 6, 2021.
Although the testimony touched on the Trump family’s brand and the potential benefits of being associated with the Trump name, it remained mostly supportive of the Democratic side’s narrative.
