“REPLACE IT with MUCH BETTER HEALTHCARE” Trump Expresses Desire to Replace, Not Terminate, Obamacare

Former President Trump conveyed his intent late Tuesday night to “replace” the Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, rather than terminate it entirely. Taking to Truth Social, he emphasized that achieving better healthcare for the American people would be a priority for the Trump Administration.

In a post on the social media platform, Trump stated, “Getting much better Healthcare than Obamacare for the American people will be a priority of the Trump Administration. It is not a matter of cost, it is a matter of HEALTH. America will have one of the best Healthcare Plans anywhere in the world. Right now it has one of the WORST!”

In a separate post, Trump clarified, “I don’t want to terminate Obamacare, I want to REPLACE IT with MUCH BETTER HEALTHCARE. Obamacare Sucks!!!”

As the leading GOP candidate for the 2024 election, Trump had indicated over the weekend that he was “seriously looking at alternatives” to Obamacare, expressing dissatisfaction with the failure to repeal the healthcare law in 2017, which he referred to as a “low point for the Republican Party.”

Trump’s comments took some GOP senators by surprise, as there had been no substantial discussions about replacing Obamacare in recent years. Senate Republican Whip John Thune stated, “I’m for lowering costs and making our health care system more efficient, but I’m not sure. I’d want to know what the proposal is.”

Sen. John Cornyn mentioned uncertainty about building a political consensus for an alternative, and Sen. Bill Cassidy expressed skepticism about finding an alternative in the current narrowly divided Congress.
