Den’Jah Moore, a 30-year-old Florida mom, met a gruesome fate as she was found stabbed to death in her apartment, suffering approximately 100 knife wounds and severe burns. The horrifying incident occurred on Nov. 21, prompting police and firefighters to respond to the Daytona Beach apartment, where Moore and her three children were discovered, reports FOX35, WSVN, WESH, and Click Orlando.
Moore’s three children, ages 10 months, 4 years, and 5 years, were rushed to the hospital, with the infant tragically succumbing to injuries. The two older children remain in critical condition. The investigation revealed that Moore’s apartment was engulfed in flames, and an affidavit indicated that the fire was intentional, with evidence of arson at two locations, according to FOX35.
Charles Ivy, a 34-year-old suspect believed to be the father of at least two of Moore’s children, was charged on Nov. 22 with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted felony murder, and arson. Ivy admitted to visiting Moore’s apartment on the night of the incident, and authorities believe the fire was intentionally set between 11:32 p.m. and 11:42 p.m., according to WESH.
During a press conference, Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young described the crime as the “most horrendous and horrific” he had experienced in his entire career, emphasizing the domestic nature of the case. The investigation is ongoing, and Ivy remains in custody.
