The mother killed her son with a knife and then cooked and ate part of his head, but the court says she is not crazy

In a deeply disturbing incident from Egypt, a woman has been accused of brutally murdering her five-year-old son and engaging in horrific acts afterward. The woman, identified only as Hanaa, aged 29, allegedly hacked her son to death with a machete, and shockingly, it is reported that she cooked and consumed part of his head.

Local media reports indicate that Hanaa confessed to the police that she consumed her son’s flesh because she desired to keep him by her side forever. The Egyptian Public Prosecution has declared that she does not suffer from any mental disorders.

The suspect, Hanaa Mohamed Hassan, aged 29, has been presented before the criminal court and will face trial for the premeditated murder of her son, Youssef.

According to emerging accounts, the suspect purportedly killed her young victim by striking him on the head three times with the machete, which served as the murder weapon.

Reports reveal that the shocking crime came to light when the victim’s horrified uncle discovered body parts in buckets at the family home in Abu Shalabi, Ash Sharqiyah Governorate, last month.

Investigations indicate that Hassan murdered Youssef in order to prevent her ex-husband and his family from maintaining contact with the child or pursuing legal actions for visitation rights.

The investigation further established that Hassan was mentally sound and had not consumed any drugs or medications that would affect her mental state.

Upon Hassan’s arrest, the police officers were left stunned when she confessed that she had consumed a part of her son’s head because she wanted him to remain with her eternally.

Hassan’s ex-husband, identified as H.A., shared his anguish with local media, saying, “When I arrived, the police prevented me from seeing my son due to the horrifying scene.”

He explained, “We separated four years ago because she inherited land from her father and asked me to leave my family and our house to live on that land. However, I refused, and she unilaterally ended the relationship. After the divorce, I attempted to reconcile with her, but she declined and stuck to her decision.”

H.A. added, “My son was the bond between us, and I used to visit him regularly, bringing him clothes and necessities. Recently, she tried to keep him away from me and instill hatred towards me in his heart, so he wouldn’t come to me. I attempted to communicate with her family to see my son and ensure his well-being.”

According to her lawyer, Samir Mohamed Saleh, Hassan appeared emotionless when she informed the police in Faqous, “I wanted to free him and myself. I sought revenge against his father and desired my own freedom. His father persisted in attempting to take him away from me constantly.”
