Texas Newlywed Couple Killed in Wrong-Way Crash with Charges Against Alleged Intoxicated Driver

A tragic wrong-way crash in Fort Worth, Texas, claimed the lives of a newlywed couple over the weekend, with authorities attributing the incident to an alleged intoxicated driver.

On December 3, the couple, identified as 35-year-old Kristen Huddleston and 42-year-old Jared Huddleston by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, were traveling west on I-30, according to CBS News, as well as local stations WFAA and KXAS-TV

Taking the Chisholm Trail Parkway exit, they were struck by an eastbound vehicle in the westbound lanes, as reported by a Fort Worth police spokesperson.

Kristen and Jared Huddleston were both pronounced dead at the scene. The suspected wrong-way driver, 27-year-old Andrew Adamson, was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police have obtained a search warrant for his blood, and he now faces two charges of intoxication manslaughter. The legal proceedings, including Adamson’s plea and representation, remain unclear.

The couple, described as former Marines, had recently moved to Texas to embark on a new chapter of their lives as newlyweds. Kristen’s father, Rafael Ortiz, expressed the devastating loss, stating that their promising journey together was abruptly taken away.

Ortiz shared that he had spoken to Kristen just hours before the tragic incident. Survived by their children, the Huddlestons leave behind a legacy as vibrant individuals. A GoFundMe campaign initiated by their loved ones aims to support the grieving family.

Kristen, a mother of two girls, is remembered for her contagious laugh and her dedication to bringing joy to those around her. The campaign organizer, Elizabeth Phillips, urged the community to rally around the family, serving as a beacon of support during this challenging time.
