Pregnant Wife of Suspect Allegedly Discovered Beside Deceased Infant

In a recent criminal complaint filed on Monday, disturbing details emerged surrounding the tragic death of Kali Jean Randall, a mother from Idaho. The document, initially obtained by the East Idaho News and later reviewed by PEOPLE, outlines the allegations that Randall, 38, was shot and killed in her residence last Thursday night by her husband, Jeremy Albert Best, 48. The revelation is compounded by the heartbreaking fact that Kali was pregnant with their second child at the time of her untimely demise.

According to the complaint, Best fled the scene after the alleged shooting, taking their 10-month-old child, Zeke, with him. The distressing turn of events reached its devastating conclusion when Zeke was found lifeless after Best was discovered in a shocking state, reportedly naked inside a sleeping bag on the side of an Idaho road.

The amended criminal complaint, filed in the Idaho 7th Judicial District Court on Monday, asserts that Best deliberately and with premeditation shot his wife from behind.

The charges formally lodged against Best include two counts of first-degree murder, encompassing the deaths of Kali and their unborn child. Additionally, Best faces charges related to the illegal use of a firearm.

The Bonneville County Coroner, Rick Taylor, has yet to disclose the cause of death for baby Zeke, and inquiries into potential further charges against Best remain unanswered by the Teton County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.

The unsettling discovery of Best unfolded when a group of hunters stumbled upon him on Saturday morning, lying unclothed in a sleeping bag along an Idaho road, approximately 60 miles away from the family’s home in Victor, Idaho.

Baby Zeke’s lifeless body was found nearby. The 911 caller reported Best’s odd behavior, prompting his apprehension and subsequent booking at the Bonneville County Jail.

Brian, Kali’s brother, shared that the couple had married in September 2022 after initially meeting in 2009. Kali, an artist known for her handcrafted jewelry, had previously worked as a veterinarian technician. The family, grappling with the unimaginable loss, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from the public.

In a statement released to the media, they mourned the loss of both Kali and Zeke, acknowledging the profound pain while thanking everyone for their support during this tragic time. The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be disclosed at an appropriate time.
