Parents say their baby didn’t open his eyes for a week, ‘devastated after they found out the troubling truth’!

Liu, a mother from China, shares her heartbreak after discovering that her newborn baby was born with a rare condition called Anophthalmia, resulting in the absence of minimal eye tissue. Despite having a normal pregnancy, Liu’s son will never be able to see due to this eye condition, which reportedly affects 30 out of every 10,000 children in China.

Adding to the distress, Anophthalmia cannot be detected through ultrasounds or conventional tests during pregnancy, leading to questions about whether the family received the most advanced screening to detect any potential health issues. According to reports from CRI, the child’s family is now receiving specialized assistance to determine if there are any other health concerns.

The family remains hopeful and seeks support from various charitable organizations to plan for their son’s future. Despite the challenges ahead, Liu emphasizes that her son is like any other baby, crying for milk and expressing himself with hand movements. While there is currently no treatment for Anophthalmia, some children have been fitted with artificial eyes to aid in the natural growth of the eye sockets.

Having a new baby is an exciting yet challenging experience, filled with a range of emotions for new parents. It is important to prioritize the health of the baby by ensuring that those handling the child are up to date on their vaccines and feeling well. However, if parents prefer to limit visitors or have concerns, there is no need to feel guilty about taking necessary precautions.
