Orlando Couple’s Arrest Over Two Years After Fatal Hit-and-Run Tragedy for Honeymoon Crash Charges

An Orlando couple, Megan and Jeffrey Brannan, both 32, have been arrested more than two years after a deadly hit-and-run crash in September 2021 that claimed the life of Christopher Coffey, who was on his way to his honeymoon, told News 6

The Miami-Herald reported that Megan, allegedly the driver, faces charges of leaving the scene of a fatal crash and the scene of a crash involving serious injury. Jeffrey, her husband, is charged as an accessory after the fact.

Christopher Coffey succumbed to his injuries six days after the crash, a week after marrying Mary Coffey. The couple, high school sweethearts from Tennessee, was en route to their honeymoon cruise when the Brannans’ Dodge Charger reportedly collided with their Dodge Ram truck in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The impact caused the Coffeys’ truck to flip, while the Brannans’ car spun out on the highway. The Brannans allegedly fled the scene. Megan Brannan has been released on a $75,000 bond, while Jeffrey remains in custody on a $50,000 bond. It’s unclear if either has entered a plea or retained an attorney.

In the aftermath of the tragedy, a GoFundMe was launched by Christopher’s sister, Allison Moore, describing the couple’s joyous wedding day followed by the devastating crash. Christopher, described as a son, brother, uncle, and husband, passed away with his wife, parents, and best friend at his side.

His sister emphasized Christopher’s kindness, ambition, and enduring legacy in the memories of those who knew him. The legal proceedings against the Brannans now unfold, shedding light on the events surrounding a hit-and-run that altered the lives of the Coffey family and friends, leaving a lasting impact on the memory of Christopher Coffey.
