A mother has shared the harrowing impact of a violent home invasion where gangsters broke into her residence and attacked her and her partner with machetes, forever changing their lives. The 28-year-old woman, whose identity remains undisclosed, tragically lost two fingers on her left hand, while her partner had to undergo a leg amputation.
According to allegations, the gangsters traveled an extensive 212-mile distance from Liverpool to Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, specifically to carry out the assault at 2:30 am on May 19, reportedly over an unpaid six-figure debt.
The mother-of-two from Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, spoke out about how her existence has been irrevocably altered by the terrifying incident. She confided in the Daily Record, stating, “It’s an unimaginable ordeal that happened to me, and it’s difficult to discuss.”
She added, “I am determined to move forward and recover from this traumatic experience. At present, I am focusing on myself and my children. My partner and I have decided to go our separate ways, and we are no longer in contact.”
Regarding the motive behind the attack, she expressed her lack of knowledge, admitting that her partner has not been forthcoming about the full details of what transpired. Both victims were transported by ambulance to Monklands Hospital for immediate medical attention, and later, surgeons performed amputations on the injured limbs.
Initial reports of the incident only emerged recently after photographs of the injured couple were shared on social media, prompting an appeal for witnesses by the police. A photograph depicted the male victim lying in a hospital bed, having undergone an above-the-knee amputation of his right leg, while his left leg was bandaged and immobilized.
His arms were heavily bandaged from the elbows downward, covering both hands, which also sustained severe injuries. The female victim’s image revealed her left arm bandaged below the elbow, concealing the amputated fingers on her left hand. She suffered the swipe of a blade while attempting to call for help, witnessing the attack unfold.
A family member of the woman described the severity of the situation, stating, “Even the police have acknowledged it as the worst they have ever seen. She was fortunate not to have lost more than her two fingers.”
Sources indicate that the male victim, also 28, had accrued debt to criminals in Liverpool and had recently been released from prison. Since the double attack, the woman has relocated from her previous home and now seeks alternative accommodations for herself and her two young children.
Authorities have described the couple’s injuries as “serious” and continue their ongoing investigation, attempting to trace the movements of the suspected individuals responsible for the violent assault.
