Texas Mom Allegedly Ties Son to Car, Drags Him Down Road: Cops

According to reports from various media outlets, including the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, Marion Stade, a 61-year-old Texas mother, was arrested and charged with abandoning or endangering a child after allegedly dragging her son alongside her car with a seatbelt because he insulted her.

The Archer County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the alleged incident on May 2 after receiving a call from a witness who saw the boy being hauled alongside the car as he struggled to keep up to save himself from falling, according to an arrest warrant.

The sheriff’s office reportedly received additional witness videos showing the boy tied to the car with a seatbelt and running alongside it on Highway 79.

When stopped by a deputy, Stade denied mistreating her son and claimed she had pulled over after a verbal altercation with her son, in which he called her a name, and waited for him to apologize.

The deputy then instructed the boy to apologize to his mother, after which they were allowed to leave. However, Stade was stopped again by the same deputy after the sheriff received additional witness videos, leading to her arrest on the child endangerment charge later that day.

There is currently no information available regarding Stade’s plea or legal representation.
