A 51-year-old Minneapolis man, Reid Christopher Johnson, was discovered deceased with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner report obtained by PEOPLE. The Minneapolis Police Department found Johnson’s bullet-riddled body inside a garbage can in the garage of an unoccupied house on the 700 block of 30th Ave N.
Upon arrival at the scene, forensic scientists from the MPD processed the area and collected evidence, while homicide detectives initiated an investigation. Despite ongoing efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide.
Fox 9 reports that a real estate agent, preparing the unoccupied home for an open house, made the grim discovery. The agent initially noticed an unattended car in the garage on Saturday and reported it to the MPD. By Sunday, the car had been replaced by a large garbage bin. The real estate agent, at the homeowner’s request, investigated the bin and uncovered Johnson’s body wrapped in a blue tarp.
The homeowner expressed shock at the gruesome find, stating, “It’s just a horrible thing to have happened to anybody. To die and be put in a garbage can, it’s unbelievable. It’s hard to think about,” according to Fox 9.
