Man Accused of Fatally Injuring Ex-Girlfriend’s Daughter in Heartbreaking Weekend Altercation

In a tragic incident over the weekend, a 54-year-old man has been accused of taking the life of his ex-girlfriend’s 17-year-old daughter during a heated altercation. The Dothan Police Department responded to a distressing call on Saturday, Dec. 9, just before 1 p.m., at a residence on Sedona Lane, citing “suspicious circumstances.”

Upon entering the premises, law enforcement discovered Duong Thi Thuy Troung, the female victim, who was unresponsive and exhibited signs of a physical altercation, as reported by WDHN-TV. Despite the immediate medical aid provided by first responders, Troung was transported to a local hospital, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries. The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences will examine to determine the cause and manner of Troung’s death.

The suspect in this devastating incident is Minh Nguyen, who has been charged with suspicion of murder. According to WDHN, Troung was the daughter of Nguyen’s ex-girlfriend. Both Nguyen and the victim’s mother were reported to have worked together at a local nail salon, adding complexity to the unfolding tragedy.

The motive behind Nguyen’s alleged actions remains unclear, with Dothan Police Lt. Ronald Hall stating that while there had been “conflicts” between Troung and Nguyen in the past, they were not previously “physical in nature.”

As investigators delve into the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking event, questions linger about what led to the tragic escalation on that particular day. Authorities are diligently working to piece together the events that culminated in the fatal outcome.

Minh Nguyen is currently held without bond in the Houston County Jail, as the community grapples with the shock and sorrow stemming from the untimely loss of Duong Thi Thuy Troung. The legal process will undoubtedly unfold as investigators seek justice for the victim and her grieving loved ones, shedding light on the complexities that contributed to this heartbreaking incident.
