Man Arrested After Alleged Kidnapping, Torture, and Abandonment of Ex-Girlfriend Outside Hospital

A 40-year-old man has been taken into custody after allegedly kidnapping his ex-girlfriend, restraining her with tape, subjecting her to torture, and subsequently abandoning her outside a hospital.

The Osceola Police Department alerted Des Moines Police about the incident at Clark County Hospital on Saturday, December 2. The 32-year-old victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, Jordan Mangum, forcibly entered her residence around 2:30 a.m., bound her with duct tape, and forcibly transported her against her will.

The victim claimed she was taken to a residence in Indianola, where she was held captive. Subsequently, Mangum purportedly drove her to an undisclosed location, where he choked her, slashed her throat, and ran her over with his vehicle, despite her pleas to stop, reported WHO13.

Following the ordeal, Mangum allegedly deposited the victim on the street outside Clark County Hospital. She sustained severe injuries and underwent surgery. Detectives secured a search warrant for an Indianola residence on December 3, leading to Mangum’s arrest on charges of first-degree kidnapping, willful injury, and violation of a no-contact order.

Polk County Jail records also indicate a charge of first-degree domestic abuse assault. In an update, the Des Moines Police Department announced the arrest of Jessica Wheeler, Mangum’s alleged co-conspirator, on a charge of first-degree kidnapping.

The victim remains hospitalized.
