Jimmy and Billie were married for many decades, experiencing life’s ups and downs together and building a family that included several children and grandchildren. After 60 years of marriage, Billie passed away, leaving Jimmy heartbroken. He sat by her side in the hospital day after day until she finally passed away in her sleep.
Two days later, Jimmy found a handwritten note in Billie’s purse that brought tears to his eyes. Throughout their marriage, Billie had a habit of writing small notes to herself. Jimmy assumed that the note he found was one such note, but as he opened it, he realized that it was a message of love and comfort directed to him.
The note read: “Please don’t cry because I died! Smile because I lived! Know that I’m in a happy place! Know that we will meet again! I’ll see you there!” Although the family is unsure when Billie wrote the note, it was clear that she had hidden it so that Jimmy would find it after she passed away.
Despite his immense sorrow for losing his beloved wife, the simple but powerful message gave Jimmy tremendous consolation. “It perfectly sums up the hope and comfort that comes with knowing you’ll meet again in eternity,” said the couple’s grandson Cliff.
