A disturbing incident occurred at a funeral wake where a grandmother was subjected to a brutal assault, resulting in severe injuries. Belinda Stickland, 62, is currently hospitalized, receiving treatment for broken ribs, a punctured lung, and facial injuries sustained during the attack at Splott Conservative Club in Cardiff on June 9.
According to her daughter, Janice Joseph, Belinda had arrived at the wake only 20 minutes before the assault took place. She was standing at the bar engaged in conversation with a man when the incident occurred, Jinaise alleged. The attack unfolded rapidly, leaving Belinda calling out for help.
Jinaise said, “I wasn’t there, but I received a phone call, and I could hear my mum saying ‘Help me, help me’. As the ambulance would have taken a long time to arrive, some of the club staff assisted us in getting her to the hospital.”
The sight at the hospital was described as horrific, preventing Jinaise from entering the room where her mother was being treated. Belinda, a grandmother of 12, is highly regarded and cherished by many, making the attack even more shocking and senseless. Witnesses who viewed the CCTV footage of the incident expressed their disgust and shock at the sickening nature of the assault.
Belinda remains hospitalized, while the police have spoken to her and are examining the CCTV footage as well as conducting forensic investigations, as reported by WalesOnline.
