In a terrifying incident, an Indianapolis woman found herself at the center of an alleged armed robbery when she was confronted by Damien Boyce, who brandished a firearm.
Amber Beraun shared her harrowing encounter, recounting how she was retrieving her mail one evening in May when Boyce approached her, demanding entry into her home, as reported by WRTV and quoted by New York Post.
Despite refusing to let the armed intruder inside, Beraun handed over approximately $100 in cash. However, Boyce seemed unsatisfied with the amount and took an unexpected turn. He allegedly forced Beraun to connect with him on Facebook, compelling her to befriend him on the social media platform.
In an attempt to defuse the tense situation, Beraun complied, hoping that adding him as a friend on Facebook would convince him to leave. Thankfully, Boyce left after gaining access to her profile, providing temporary relief. However, the relief was short-lived as Beraun started receiving messages from her assailant.
Following the robbery, Boyce began sending inappropriate and concerning messages to Braun. One message allegedly stated, “Damn you were too pretty to rob.” He even claimed he would reimburse her for the stolen money.
Braun responded to his messages, trying to maintain a calm and understanding tone, saying, “I believe you, man. I can tell you’re sweet, times just get rough. I know that.”
Unfortunately, her attempt to pacify the gunman seemed to embolden him further. Despite Beraun’s conciliatory response, Boyce continued to contact her and audaciously requested that she “come chill.”
The ongoing communication left Beraun deeply shaken and created a sense of paranoia within her otherwise peaceful Indianapolis neighborhood.
Authorities from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department confirmed that Boyce was subsequently apprehended and charged in connection with a separate armed robbery on June 12. During that incident, Boyce allegedly shot two individuals and assaulted another with a brick following an escalated argument.
After the altercation, Boyce barricaded himself, leading to the deployment of a SWAT team. Eventually, he surrendered to law enforcement. Damien Boyce now faces multiple charges, including burglary, unlawful possession of a weapon, criminal recklessness, and battery.
