Two missing children from Florida have been located safe in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, more than 1,000 miles away, according to authorities.
The 2-year-old boy, Dekarsen Middleton, and his 1-year-old sister, Delyla Middleton, were discovered abandoned at a park, as reported by WISN.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Panama City, Florida, stated that the children’s mother had entrusted Adalyn Burkett, an 18-year-old individual, to babysit them overnight. Additionally, the mother allegedly loaned Burkett her vehicle.
However, when Burkett and her boyfriend, Marquan Edwards, 22, failed to return the following morning on June 24th, the family contacted the police. On Sunday evening, around 6 p.m., the children were found in a park near the intersection of North 28th Street and West Clarke Street.
The parents of the siblings embarked on an overnight journey from Florida to Wisconsin to reunite with their children, which took place on Monday afternoon.
The U.S. Marshals apprehended Burkett and Edwards at a residence in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing potential charges against the pair.
