In a shocking incident, an enraged father took matters into his own hands when he discovered that his 11-month-old daughter’s babysitters were intoxicated.
Lee Brown, a 23-year-old man, and his girlfriend Natasha Snow returned home on September 12 after a night out to find a party in full swing at their house, where their young daughter was under the care of others. Fueled by anger, the father forcefully dragged one of the men involved, Darren McKay, out of the house and subjected him to a brutal assault.
Following the violent attack, McKay was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. He suffered severe injuries, including fractures to his forehead, jaw, nose, and eye socket, along with substantial bruising and swelling on his face, reports the Newcastle Chronicle.
Describing the extent of the injuries in court, prosecutor Neil Pallister stated that McKay had significant facial swelling, particularly around his eyes. He also had a deep laceration on his eyebrow and bruising on his elbow, in addition to fractures in his forehead, eye socket, upper jaw, and a potential nasal bone fracture.
Subsequently, Brown was arrested for his assault on McKay and ultimately pleaded guilty to the charge of grievous bodily harm. The court sentenced him to a prison term of 17 months.
Addressing Brown during the sentencing, Judge Penny Moreland emphasized the significant impact his actions had on McKay’s life, stating, “You went to the house where your daughter was being looked after, and because you were dissatisfied with how she was being cared for, you assaulted Darren McKay.” Mirror Online said.
Additionally, it has been reported that Brown admitted guilt to a separate count of common assault for punching another attendee at the party.
