A man is facing charges after allegedly assaulting the mother of his child and taking their baby. According to authorities, the incident occurred on June 5 at approximately 4:44 a.m. The victim contacted the Memphis Police to report that Devin Holden, the father of her child, had assaulted her in their residence in Whitehaven.
According to reports, the victim stated that she woke up to Holden choking her and making threats to harm her unless she unlocked her cell phone. Subsequently, he struck her on the head with a firearm. After the assault, Holden left their home, taking their one-year-old daughter with him.
The victim managed to seek refuge at a friend’s house and contacted the police. While fleeing, the victim sustained injuries to her left leg when she fell. Afterward, she retrieved her daughter from the Raines police station where Holden had left her.
Officers documented the leg injury, which resulted in a cut, and the victim provided a written statement detailing the incident at the downtown police station.
The victim positively identified Holden as the individual responsible for the assault based on a photograph. Holden is now facing charges of Aggravated Assault.
