Fatal Florida Bridge Crash Claims Three Lives, Leaves Two Injured

On December 6, a tragic incident unfolded in Florida when a 22-year-old driving a stolen car allegedly crashed into two sheriff’s office vehicles and another car, resulting in the death of three individuals and injuries to two others, according to authorities.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Leosvany Arias Roman, was driving a Mustang reported stolen by the Tampa Police Department. Around 10:20 p.m. local time, two Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to arrest Roman after he parked the stolen vehicle, told FOX 13.

Instead, Roman crashed the Mustang into the sheriff’s department vehicles and fled the scene, displaying, according to the HCSO Sheriff Chad Chronister, a complete disregard for human life.

As Roman fled, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that he collided with a Florida Highway Patrol vehicle on the highway. Subsequently, he collided with a Dodge Caravan minivan carrying four occupants. The Caravan’s driver, a local Uber driver, had three passengers from Ohio.

Tragically, the 33-year-old driver and a 52-year-old man from Columbiana, Ohio, succumbed to fatal injuries. The other two passengers, a 51-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and were transported to the hospital.

Despite efforts, the 51-year-old woman passed away due to injuries from the crash on the same evening. The 27-year-old Florida Highway Patrol officer involved in the collision with Roman was treated for minor injuries.

Leosvany Arias Roman now faces a series of charges, including felony murder, vehicular homicide, aggravated fleeing and eluding involving death, driving while license suspended involving death, and battery on a law enforcement officer, as stated by FHP. It remains unclear whether Roman has entered a plea or retained legal representation.

The investigation into the multiple collisions is ongoing, leaving a community grappling with the devastating consequences of a reckless act that claimed lives and caused severe injuries.
