Father’s Sacrifice: Tragic Plane Crash Claims the Life of Jared Newman as He Protects Sons on the Fourth of July

A tragic plane crash in southern California on the Fourth of July resulted in the loss of Jared Newman, a dedicated father who was looking out for his sons during the ordeal, according to their mother.

Connor, Caleb, and Elijah miraculously made it through the incident and are currently in stable condition at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego, according to a GoFundMe campaign organized to support the family.

The victims’ injuries ranged from minor to serious, with one having minor injuries, another moderate injury, and the third sustaining serious injuries, as stated by the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department.

In a heartfelt statement shared on the fundraising page, Megan Newman, the wife of Jared, expressed her grief and gratitude. She emphasized how Jared protected their sons and ensured their safe return. Megan wrote, “In my grief and my heartache, I also have 3 beautiful miracles to kiss today. [Jared] made sure he protected them and brought them safely to me. That is all I could ever want in life.”

The aircraft involved in the crash was a fixed-wing, single-engine Cessna built in 1978 and registered to California Professional Flyers Inc., according to FAA records. The plane took off at 1:28 p.m. and crashed under a quarter-mile east of the French Valley airfield after 28 minutes in the air.

Both the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the FAA are conducting investigations into the crash, with CAL FIRE providing assistance. The wreckage has been moved to a secure facility in Chino, California, and was examined on Thursday. A preliminary report is expected to be released in three weeks, while the full investigation may take up to two years to complete.

As of now, the boys are receiving medical care, and updates from their mother indicate their conditions. Caleb sustained several injuries but did not experience significant head trauma. Connor underwent surgery for a broken femur and other wounds. Elijah’s injuries are more severe, including a broken jaw, lacerated liver, and pulmonary bruises. He was intubated at the hospital but is receiving the necessary care.

The Newman family has received an outpouring of support, with the GoFundMe campaign raising over $50,000 to assist them during this challenging time. Megan requests prayers for her sons and expresses gratitude for the support they have received.
