A horrifying incident unfolded as a family dog, bought through a Facebook advertisement, launched a ferocious attack on a six-year-old boy, causing significant injuries and tearing off part of his scalp. The boy, in a state of terror, pleaded with the dog to stop as it bit and scratched him on his head and back.
In a desperate attempt to save his life, the boy’s family managed to pry open the jaws of the American Staffordshire terrier. Following the savage attack, the traumatized boy asked his mother a heart-wrenching question, “Mummy, am I dying?”
The young victim spent five days in the hospital, where medical professionals worked to reattach the torn-off piece of his scalp. He received over 50 stitches on his head and face, in addition to suffering deep cuts on his back, reports The Mirror.Â
The boy’s father, Vitalijus, expressed the family’s anguish, emphasizing that they never want any other family to experience such a nightmare. He mentioned that they carefully considered getting a dog and were captivated by a Facebook post featuring a puppy being sold for £200. The post, shared by the breeder, described the six-month-old dog as Diesel, a Staffie.
However, soon after bringing the dog home, they realized that Diesel was completely untrained. The attack occurred when the dog, chewing on a bone, encountered the boy descending the stairs. The dog lunged at the boy, dragging him down a couple of steps, seemingly viewing him as a chew toy. The boy’s sister, Gabriel, vividly recalled her brother’s pleas for the dog to stop and the chaotic scene that unfolded.
Gabriel’s stepfather intervened, attempting to restrain the dog while her mother scooped up the injured boy. The family dialed emergency services, and the stepfather confined the dog in the bathroom. In his attempt to protect his loved ones, the father sustained injuries to his arm from the dog’s teeth.
The mother, Eugenia, tearfully recounted the incident, describing how she rushed to her son’s aid, attempting to calm him down and staunch the bleeding. She shared the heart-wrenching moment when the boy, confronted with the sight of blood, asked her if he was dying, displaying remarkable resilience even in the face of such trauma.
The scalp, torn from the boy’s head, was retrieved from the floor and carefully transported to the hospital along with a bag of frozen chips. Eugenija expressed her gratitude to the doctors and neighbors who provided incredible support during this challenging time.
The brave young boy, although enduring nightmares and residual fears, continues to smile through his recovery, dubbing himself a superhero. The family plans for another operation, and the incident has prompted the police to issue a warning about purchasing dogs from social media platforms. The dog involved in the attack has been euthanized, and the authorities are currently investigating the incident.
