Horror As 8-Year-Old Girl Plunges To Her Death From Tower Block, Woman Arrested For Child Neglect

According to a recent Daily Mail report on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, the community of Portsmouth is mourning the loss of 8-year-old Minnie, who recently passed away after falling from an 11th-floor balcony.

Though her full name has not been released, this bright young life has left a lasting impact on those who knew her.

On August 24th, emergency services rushed to Wingfield Street’s Pickwick House after receiving reports that a child had fallen.

Tragically, they were unable to save Minnie, whose family has been notified.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation, but a 43-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of child neglect.

She has since been released on bail until late November.

While police continue looking into what transpired, the community is coming together to honor Minnie’s memory.

A donation campaign organized by Lisa Knight aims to cover expenses for a memorial service and bench, providing a peaceful place for Minnie’s loved ones to reflect.

Knight organized this on behalf of the family, who are understandably facing unimaginable grief.

In just a short time, the campaign has already raised about £1,400, demonstrating how Minnie touched people’s lives.

“She was loved by many and will be greatly missed,” reads one heartfelt tribute left near the tower block.

A statement from Minnie’s uncle conveyed the family’s deep appreciation for the community’s support.

Detective Superintendent Roger Wood has requested that anyone with information assist police in piecing together this puzzle.

Witnesses who saw what happened on the balcony or have knowledge of the events leading up to the fall are urged to come forward and provide statements.

While questions linger regarding Minnie’s final moments, the community seems focused on celebrating her young life.

Floral tributes, stuffed animals, and heartfelt messages have been left creating a makeshift memorial near the building on Wingfield Street.

Though her time here was short, the joy and vibrancy Minnie radiated has not gone unnoticed.

Fellow student Millie Fletcher touchingly remarked “She was funny, always making people laugh. She was so little but had the biggest personality.”

The Arundel Court Primary School community will deeply feel Minnie’s absence when classes resume, though counselors will be available to provide support.

Teachers described her as a model student who excelled academically and socially.

Headteacher Matthew Dampier stated, “We are all deeply saddened by the tragic, heart-breaking news about our pupil.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with her family and friends at this immensely difficult time for them.”

While nothing can erase this painful loss, the community continues uplifting Minnie’s memory, ensuring her truncated life is not forgotten.

Portsmouth stands united in honoring her bright spirit and contagious smile.

Her enduring legacy serves as a reminder to cherish each moment we have with precious loved ones.
