A six-year-old child has been subjected to severe abuse resulting in hospitalization, leading to the arrest of the child’s mother and her boyfriend, as reported by Clayton County Police.
Authorities have disclosed that the young boy is currently in critical condition, suffering from multiple injuries including broken bones, blood clots in the lung, and bleeding on the brain. There was a moment when he lost consciousness, according to their findings.
During the incident, only the news crew from FOX 5 Atlanta was present when the mother, Porche Wells, was apprehended by officers.
According to Clayton County police, Wells’ boyfriend, Napoleon Ates, accused the six-year-old of stealing money over the weekend. They revealed to FOX 5 that the boyfriend physically abused the child over the course of several days while the mother passively witnessed the abuse. At one point, the boyfriend instructed the mother to leave the room.
On Sunday, the child became unconscious, and in an attempt to revive him, the mother resorted to giving him an ice bath. Throughout Monday and Tuesday, as relayed by the police to FOX 5, the mother went to work and indulged in personal grooming activities while her child continued to suffer at home. Eventually, she took the child to a nearby hospital, prompting the involvement of the authorities.
Wells and Ates have been charged with child abuse, while the mother faces additional charges for providing false information to the police.
