Authorities have reported that three 15-year-old boys have been taken into custody in connection with the tragic shooting death of an 18-year-old during a carjacking incident in Colorado.
On the evening of January 20, Nasier Graham, a high school student, was fatally shot in a parking lot at an apartment complex in Loveland, and his vehicle was stolen.
“We have not found any specific connection between the suspects and the victim,” stated Police Chief Tim Doran to KDVR. “Therefore, it appears to be a random and senseless act of murder.”
According to the police, the three 15-year-old boys then fled the scene in the victim’s stolen vehicle. Shortly after, the suspects were involved in a collision with a 16-year-old boy, whom they allegedly shot. The injured victim was hospitalized and is currently in stable condition.
On January 31, the first suspect was apprehended, followed by the second suspect two days later. Both individuals are facing multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, assault, aggravated robbery, vehicle theft, and weapons possession. The third boy was arrested on February 5, and pending charges are being considered, as stated by officials.
“Nas was not just an ordinary person. He was loved by his family, friends, coworkers, schoolmates, and coaches. We had envisioned him getting married, having children, and experiencing the joys of adolescence,” expressed family spokesperson Okema Bassett, as reported by KDVR.
Bassett added, “We are filled with sadness and grief, and we eagerly await the conviction of these three criminals. We will see them in court.”
